CoverMate covers are waterproof and designed to be reusable.
They should be cleaned thoroughly before reusing and can be washed in the dishwasher – top rack only.
The number of reuses will vary, but you can generally expect to be able to use each cover at least 10 times.
Yes, CoverMate covers are designed for defrosting, reheating and steaming food in a microwave oven.
The cover prevents splattering and promotes uniform cooking. The cover itself does not become heated from microwave energy, but will become heated from contact with hot food and steam.
Normally food reheated in a microwave remains below the melting point of the plastic, however certain fatty foods and foods high in sugar content can become extremely hot and should not come in direct contact with the cover.
CoverMate covers have a super resilient FlexBand built into each cover which allows it to perfectly fit and seal any shape dish, bowl, plate or container.
They keep food fresh longer by holding in the moisture and preventing food from drying out.
The covers also restrict the amount of oxygen and increase the amount of carbon dioxide available to covered fruits and vegetables, which slows down the ripening process to keep food fresh longer.
CoverMate covers are designed with 4 vents which are placed at each corner of the cover.
These vents are designed to allow steam to escape when used in the microwave.
While the cover may look round it is actually a square when stretched out, and these vents also allow you to identify the corners when coving square shaped containers.
CoverMate covers are designed specifically for covering food and are made from FDA compliant food safe materials.
Utilising patented technology, a super resilient FlexBand is built into each cover which allows it to perfectly fit and seal any shape dish, bowl, plate or container.
Our FlexBand technology makes the covers waterproof, sanitary, microwavable and reusable.
Bowl covers, on the other hand, are basically repackaged shower caps, and are made by sewing a strip of elastic to the edge of a plastic sheet with thread.
Shower caps are not designed for covering food and will begin to fall apart when the thread becomes wet.
CoverMate products were designed by an American inventor based in Hayward, California. The state of the art equipment used for the US patented manufacturing process was also designed and built in the United States.
The company was acquired by Touch Industries in 2012, a Canadian company distributing over 800 products for the food service, health and retail sectors. The Kitchen Table have the UK and Republic of Ireland distribution rights.
